Pops in the Park Concerts

This Sunday-before-Labor Day concert has become one of North Carolina's grandest outdoor symphony events! WRAL's Pops in the Park concert marks the end of summer by providing a 'free, musical gift' to the community each Labor Day weekend. The event showcases the North Carolina Symphony, drawing 10,000 music lovers to the Amphitheatre at Regency Park in Cary, NC each year.

WRAL-TV broadcasts the concert in the Triangle area on Labor Day Monday, 7-8pm. UNC-TV, who partners with WRAL on the production, repeats the broadcast statewide the following week-end. WRAL organizes the outdoor event and television broadcast and Capitol Broadcasting Company provides the broadcast fees. Many companies sponsor free exhibits throughout the afternoon and evening.

The traditional highlight of this annual concert is Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and the concert always concludes with a dazzling fireworks display set to John Phillips Sousa's "The Stars and Stripes Forever."
