Message from the GM

Mike Hill "With the help of Duke University and GlaxoSmithKline, the Diamond View I building made an outstanding addition to Downtown Durham and the newly expanded Durham Bulls Athletic Park.  The outstanding views, convenient location, and Class A service provide our tenants with one of the most exciting office environments in the Triangle."

Diamond View

Overview
Adjacent to the Durham Freeway, the Diamond View Office Building is located in right field of the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The four story facility is located in downtown Durham only 5 minutes from Research Triangle Park and 10 minutes from the Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

Diamond View is a Class-A office building with architecture that mirrors the award-winning style of the DBAP. Offering state-of-the-art conveniences, including the latest in telecommunications capabilities, the 80,000 square foot office building has balconies overlooking the ballpark with panoramic views, “the best seats in the house.”

History
Diamond View RenderingOn August 11, 1997, Capitol Broadcasting Company broke ground on Diamond View, marking the largest private investment in downtown Durham in more than a decade. In 1998, WRAZ-TV/FOX50, one of CBC’s television stations moved its operations to the first floor of the newly completed office building. Major tenants Duke University Medical Center and GlaxoSmithKline (at the time called Glaxo Wellcome) also took floors.

The Diamond View I project created approximately 320 jobs and has an annual economic impact estimated in excess of $6 million. The venture came at a time when there was a shortage of quality office space in Durham.

The Freelon Group and Duda/Paine Architects served as architects for the project.

In July 2008, Diamond View II was completed in the Durham Bulls left field. The 154,000 square foot building is anchored by tenant Smith Breeden Associates. The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, Compuware and KeySource Bank also rent large sections of the building.

Tobacco Road Sports Café opened in Diamond View II April 2010, with a large indoor sports bar featuring 50+ TVs and an outdoor patio area overlooking the DBAP.

Cline Design served as architect for Diamond View II; Bovis was the general contractor.
